   Working with the Texture Button

Back to Tutorials

In this tutorial i will be using the Motocross Madness 2 Track Editor (Armadillo)

The Texture Button can be used in 2 ways

You can Add a Texture that you have previously made 960x960 24bit
By pushing the Custom Button and clicking on the corresponding buttons
For more information on Placing Textures that you have made go check out
my other tutorial Importing Your Texture Into the Armadillo

In this tutorial i will show you how to use the Auto Generate feature to make your textures

FIRST off you need a SPLINE
to figure out how to add a spline go here Working with the Spline Button

here is where you select what Texture Maps will be added to sections of your track

you can add more textures in there than just those
go to Twisted Dirt's Download Section they have some there
Under Swag and Freebies
Click Textures
Click Terrain Textures
They will show you them and you can download them
and they tell you where to place them

ok now what you do is go under Texture Maps that is the Colors that your track will be
here are samples of what they look like
On Track
will be the Texture that will be placed Inside the Blue lines of your spline
1.   2.   3.   4.   5.

Off Track
will be placed everywhere BUT inside those Blue lines
1.   2.   3.   4.   5.

Edge Track
will be placed between the Inside and Outside of your spline
basically On the blue lines

1.   2.   3.   4.   5.

now that you have chosen a texture look at the other stuff in there

Feather Distance is how Wide you want that EDGE Texture

Number of Ruts is kinda obvious
it is How many Lines go around the track
they are supposed to represent the dark areas on tracks
you will see them mostly in turns
They are called Ruts

Rut Opacity is how Dark you want those Ruts to be 10% is Plenty

Cloud Seed will create Dark Areas on your track
as if there are Clouds in the Sky and
they are creating shadows

Cloud Opacity is How Dark you want those clouds to be that you added in Cloud Seed

The Apply button when pushed will apply all those things and the textures too

The Export button will let you Export your Texture so you can change it around in a program like Photoshop
you will have to type in the whole name with .tga at the end of that file you export
like if you wanted to save your tex as JumpAroundTEX you will need to type in JumpAroundTEX.tga
If you do not do this it will just create a file and it will not have a format so you cannot open it in Photoshop

Good work check out the next one Working with the Object Button   it is cool i swear
